Dylan and Vietanh will show a suite of Figma-powered design tools that let their team build out core and global Uber experiences. Without this infrastructure, it would have been impossible to build coherent design flows which let Uber user buy transit tickets in Denver, order a rickshaw in Bangalore, have local favorite Churrascaria delivered to your doorstep in São Paulo, and ship important consumer goods across the US during the COVID-19 pandemic. The suite includes:
1 - Analytics: visual analytics and ground truth data of component usage (Base adoption)
2 - Cross Design Events: gamifying design system adoption process by challenging independent product teams to a tournament (Base Race)
3 - Key Workflows: abstracting the complex workflow of applying any design systems into two simple plugins: a creation tool (Configurator) and a handoff tool (Baseify)
4 - Maintenance: manipulating the Figma document programmatically to build components (Map marker generator)
5- Play with Data: synchronized handoff to prototyping tools and mixing static Figma frames with real data (MapLab)
Stories about the challenges, obstacles, and difficult moments that ultimately make products better.
